Damascus: Syrian Minister of Information Hamzah al-Mustafa paid a visit to His Beatitude Patriarch John X Yazigi, the Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, at the Mariamite Cathedral located in the historic area of Old Damascus.
According to Syrian Arab News Agency, the Ministry of Information released a statement through its official Telegram channel detailing the discussions held during the visit. Minister al-Mustafa underscored the significance of promoting a “unified national identity” within media discourse. He highlighted the ministry’s pivotal role in fostering a responsible media model aimed at bolstering social cohesion and maintaining civil peace in the country.
The meeting also concentrated on the importance of leveraging young talent and media expertise to enhance the overall performance of the media sector. This effort is intended to fortify the media’s role in safeguarding Syrian national values and countering the spread of misinformation campaigns, which pose a threat to societal harmony.
