Khartoum: Minister of Culture, Information and Tourism, Khalid Al-Ayesir, issued a statement addressing inquiries related to the affairs of Sudanese citizens, especially those in besieged areas like El-Fashir and cities in South and West Kordofan, emphasizing the ministry’s commitment to informing and enlightening the public about ongoing developments.
According to Sudan News Agency, the minister stressed the public’s right to information, citing numerous inquiries from journalists and citizens concerned with the plight of those living in conflict zones. He reinforced the ministry’s dedication to transparency and communication, asserting that since taking on their national duties, they have worked to expand media coverage and engagement.
The minister highlighted the ministry’s pledge to serve the people with integrity and dedication, noting that 36 media briefing conferences have been organized over the past two years, with the latest one scheduled to be presented by SUNA. He acknowledged the challenges faced by the media in covering the ongoing conflict, including the systematic destruction of media infrastructure by the Rapid Support Forces militia and the lack of war correspondents in critical areas.
Despite these obstacles, the minister affirmed their commitment to convey the needs and voices of citizens, relying on official statements amid restricted access to conflict zones. He highlighted the targeting and expulsion of correspondents and the assassination of a media official in North Darfur as significant challenges to their mission.
The minister concluded by pledging to continue serving the country and its citizens with determination, underscoring their moral and historical responsibility. He extended salutations to the resilient citizens in besieged areas and expressed hope for Sudan’s victory and peace.
