Khartoum: The inflation rate for May 2025 soared by 142.82% compared to the same month last year, as reported in a statement by the Central Bureau of Statistics today.
According to Sudan News Agency, the annual rate of change in inflation is determined by comparing the general price level for the current month with the same month from the previous year. This annual measure is calculated by dividing the difference between the price index for May 2025 and May 2024 by the price index for May 2024, then multiplying by 100.
The data reveals that in exclusive areas, the inflation rate for May reached 146.30%. Meanwhile, rural areas experienced an increase of 141.48% compared to the same period in the previous year.
