Port sudan: Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Professor Ahmed Mudawi Musa praised the International University of Africa (IUA) for its efforts to resume academic and research activities at its main headquarters in Khartoum. He reaffirmed the ministry’s full support, describing the university as a longstanding scientific institution and a key contributor to higher education across Sudan, Africa, and Asia. He noted that the resilience of its leadership, staff, and students reflects the university’s ability to recover despite recent challenges.
According to Sudan News Agency, the Minister made these remarks during his meeting in Port Sudan with IUA Vice-Chancellor Professor Hatim Osman Mohamed Khair and his delegation. Professor Mudawi affirmed continued oversight of rehabilitation works and the provision of technical support, commending the strong morale shown by the university community in confronting the effects of the war.
Professor Hatim provided a comprehensive briefing on preparations to reopen the Khartoum headquarters once ongoing maintenance and rehabilitation of damaged buildings and facilities are completed. He invited the Minister to attend the University’s Board of Trustees meetings scheduled for early January, noting that all organizational and logistical arrangements are finalized. He also highlighted the close coordination with staff and the broad student-led initiatives contributing to the restoration of academic and service facilities.
