Khartoum: The Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, met with the Minister of Human Development and Social Welfare, Mutasim Ahmed Salih, at his office. The meeting was attended by several ministry officials.
According to Sudan News Agency, the Health Minister expressed his satisfaction with the meeting, which covered several key topics, including the rehabilitation and development of Ibrahim Malik Hospital. He thanked the Minister of Social Welfare for initiating the first phase of the hospital’s development. The discussion also focused on strategic initiatives shared between the two ministries, notably health insurance, unified procurement files, service pricing, and healthcare financing reform. This dialogue occurs amidst a national expansion of health services, targeting both primary healthcare and hospital levels.
The Health Minister highlighted ongoing reforms and emphasized the critical role of social welfare institutions in providing specialized services, such as cardiology, oncology, and endoscopy, in regions like West Sudan, Kordofan, Merowe Medical City, and Khartoum. He stressed the need for continued coordination between the ministries to enhance the quality of health services, which would support the success of service localization and medical tourism in the country.
The Social Welfare Minister also underscored the strong collaboration with the Health Ministry, particularly concerning health insurance and the treatment of injuries and children’s healthcare in insurance hospitals. He mentioned that a pricing formula for health services had been established, and discussions were underway regarding the operation of Ibrahim Malik Hospital.
