Asmara: The Federal Minister of Health and the Wali of Khartoum attended the professional oath ceremony for medical and health practitioners at the Royal Palace Hall in Omdurman. The event was held under a slogan emphasizing efficiency and innovation within the national health system.
According to Sudan News Agency, Federal Health Minister Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim expressed gratitude to the medical workforce for their crucial role in service delivery, noting that human resources are the foundation of the health sector. He acknowledged their contributions to reconstruction efforts and resilience during the Battle of Dignity.
The Minister highlighted that the strong attendance at the ceremony signifies a return to normalcy in Khartoum and conveys a message of confidence globally. He outlined three key messages: the importance of perseverance, the professional oath as a representation of humanitarian and ethical responsibilities, and the need for equitable service provision across the nation. Additionally, he mentioned the honoring of Dr. Jamal Al-Tayeb, Director of Al-Naw Hospital, as a tribute to all health professionals.
The Minister praised the National Council for Health Professions, emphasizing the importance of coordination with the ministry and adherence to laws and professional ethics.
The Wali of Khartoum acknowledged medical professionals both within and outside Sudan and commended the Armed Forces for restoring security. He described the event as a testament to national resilience and the critical role of the ‘White Army’ in supporting vulnerable populations. He reported that 90% of health facilities affected by militias have resumed operations, with staffing and equipment restored, and announced new employment opportunities for health personnel. He also expressed gratitude to private institutions and international and local organizations for their support.
Acting Khartoum State Health Minister Dr. Fath Al-Rahman Mohamed Al-Amin confirmed a strong partnership with the National Council for Medical and Health Professions and praised medical cadres for maintaining services during the crisis.
Khartoum State Council Director Dr. Ayman Arbab welcomed the launch of the unified oath, noting the Council’s deployment of over three thousand medical professionals during the conflict and its ongoing commitment to advancing the profession and enhancing service quality.
