Federal Health Minister Discusses Support for Sudan’s Health Sector with UNDP

Khartoum: Federal Minister of Health, Professor Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, met today with Luka Renda, Director of the Sudan Office of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), to review the health situation across various states of Sudan.According to Sudan News Agency, Renda outlined his recent field visits to Kassala, Sennar, Khartoum, Al-Gezira, and Blue Nile states, where he assessed ongoing UN-supported projects, particularly oxygen plants and medical incinerators.He also reported the arrival of four trucks carrying essential medicines and medical consumables, in addition to Global Fund-supported drugs for combating HIV/AIDS and malaria, to the cities of Al-Dalang and Kadugli, in coordination with UN agencies and partner organizations. Renda affirmed that arrangements are underway to relocate the organization's office back to its main headquarters in Khartoum early next April.In the same context, the Minister met with Dr. Mona Shalita, the newly appointed Head of the Global Fund Programme at UNDP in Sudan, briefing her on the mandates of the Federal Ministry of Health and its priorities for the upcoming phase.
