Dongola: Federal Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC) Commissioner, Salwa Adam Benya arrived in Northern State on an official visit, accompanied by a federal delegation representing several sectors, the mission aims to conduct a field assessment of the humanitarian conditions of internally displaced persons (IDPs) who have arrived from the city of El-Fashir in North Darfur to Al-Dabba Locality.
According to Sudan News Agency, the Wali of Northern State, Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Abdelrahman Abdelhamid Ibrahim, received the Federal HAC Commissioner and her accompanying delegation in his office in Dongola, in the presence of the State Humanitarian Aid Commissioner, Dr. Wael Mohamed Sharif.
Salwa Benya stated that the visit aims to review the situation of the new arrivals and the humanitarian pressure borne by Northern State. She praised the state’s readiness and ability to respond to the exceptional circumstances created by the influx of IDPs. She also announced the arrival of a humanitarian convoy estimated at 1,000 tons of various supplies and food baskets, dispatched on the initiative of President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan.
The HAC Commissioner noted that the Federal Ministry of Finance donated 15,000 sacks of millet in support of the IDPs.
She expressed her appreciation to philanthropist Azhari Al-Mubarak for his contributions and support to the people of El-Fashir. She also announced that UN agencies have been invited to an emergency meeting to discuss urgent needs related to education, health, the environment, and other essential services within the IDP camps in the state, stressing the critical importance of these services.
For his part, State HAC Commissioner Dr. Wael Mohamed Sharif welcomed the visit of the federal commissioner and her delegation. He commended the substantial efforts exerted by the federal commission in providing support and following up on the conditions of the displaced people from El-Fashir currently hosted in Al-Dabba Locality.
