Sennar: The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has confirmed plans to implement a series of productive projects across various sectors targeting youth associations in Sennar State.
According to Sudan News Agency, FAO Agricultural Engineering Specialist Yahya Dahia Salem revealed in a statement that the organization is preparing a program aimed at establishing income-generating projects for youth associations, alongside the creation of business incubators in horticulture, livestock, and fisheries. These initiatives will be coordinated with the state's livestock authorities.
He added that the coming period will also witness the rollout of major development projects and the provision of large-scale agricultural equipment, to be distributed in line with activities under the Norwegian-supported project in the state. Furthermore, 40 solar-powered irrigation pumps will be allocated to 40 farms across three localities in Sennar.
Salem further indicated that 20 production-enhancing machines will be distributed to departments of fisheries, animal production, rangelands, and horticulture to boost productivity. He also noted that cooperative societies will be established to help alleviate poverty within local communities, operating under technical and administrative supervision through the relevant sectoral departments.
