Khartoum: The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy, Engineer Ali Abdulrahman, emphasized the need for a fundamental transformation in planning to advance Sudan's energy sector. He highlighted the importance of focusing efforts on the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the infrastructure essential for the oil industry, supply chains, and electricity. Additionally, the plans aim to develop the sector and reinstate its significance in the national economy.
According to Sudan News Agency, this statement was made during a meeting with the general directors of the Sudanese Petroleum Corporation. The Undersecretary was presented with work plans and challenges facing the oil sector, acknowledging that the sector has experienced substantial damage to key infrastructure elements such as production fields, pipelines, refineries, storage facilities, administrative buildings, fuel stations, and transportation means.
He further explained that the Ministry of Energy, specifically the Oil and Gas Sector, has been striving to meet the petroleum product needs of various sectors while contributing financial resources to the state treasury. Despite the challenges posed by the ongoing conflict, the ministry has managed to maintain minimum production levels and ensure a continued supply to critical sectors.
The Undersecretary urged all workers within the sector to intensify their efforts and contribute actively in the field to elevate the energy sector and restore its leading role in the national economy.
