Omdurman: The Ministry of Education and National Orientation concluded a two-day workshop in Omdurman on a roadmap for implementing quality concepts, systems, and standards in education.
According to Sudan News Agency, the workshop was organized by the Sudanese National Commission for Education, Science and Culture in collaboration with the Ministry's Quality Assurance Directorate. It was held under the theme 'Together Towards Quality and Excellence in Education' and sponsored by Minister of Education and National Orientation Dr. Al-Tohmi Al-Zain Hajar.
The workshop reviewed working papers on applying quality standards in schools, technical education, education quality policies, and the Arab model for quality and excellence. It was attended by senior ministry officials, education experts, and directorate directors.
At the closing session, Undersecretary of the Ministry Dr. Ahmed Khalifa Omar received a school quality implementation manual, adapted for emergency education conditions, along with 29 recommendations.
Key recommendations included applying quality standards across the education system, rebuilding educational institutions, revising student assessment through cumulative evaluation at primary and intermediate levels, and restructuring technical education as a specialized central body.
Dr. Ahmed Khalifa Omar stressed the need to embed quality across all elements of education-teachers, curricula, schools, and learning environments-and to develop clear implementation plans. He noted that implementation could begin in Khartoum State and reaffirmed the Ministry's support for initiatives that advance education quality nationwide.
