Experts, Officials Discuss Strategies to Enhance Social Peace in Sudan

Khartoum: The Supreme Council for Social Peace, in partnership with the African Center for Governance, Peace and Transition Studies, has convened a seminar titled 'Challenges and Future Vision' to explore strategies for strengthening social peace in Sudan. This initiative brought together government institutions, civil society organizations, and specialists to deliberate on this critical issue.According to Sudan News Agency, the Head of the Supreme Council for Social Peace, Al-Nour Al-Sheikh Al-Nour, emphasized the necessity of addressing social distortions caused by war through reconciliation and awareness-raising programs. He highlighted the need for decisive measures against hate speech and negative polarization. Al-Nour pointed out the importance of enhancing social cohesion, repairing the social fabric, enacting relevant legislation, and fostering a culture of peace, tolerance, and acceptance of others.Al-Nour also advocated for structured dialogue with community leaders and elites. He noted that suc cessful international experiences in managing diversity rely on principles of justice, equality, rejection of tribalism and regionalism, and broad social and political participation.In addition, Dr. Mahmoud Zain Al-Abdeen, Director of the African Center for Governance, Peace and Transition Studies, stated that the seminar's objective is to transform research into practical recommendations. It seeks to enhance coordination among stakeholders and define priorities to support community recovery, healing, and stability in Sudan.
