Economic Development Sector Advocates for Integrated Livestock Production Cities Project

Khartoum: The Economic Development Sector of the Council of Ministers has put forth a recommendation for the adoption of the Integrated Livestock and Fisheries Production Cities Project in the Gezira Scheme. This decision emerged from a meeting held on Wednesday, chaired by Finance Minister Dr. Gebreil Ibrahim, with the aim of advancing a programme to develop livestock markets and boost Sudanese exports.According to Sudan News Agency, the sector emphasized the project's significance as a national initiative that could bring about a strategic transformation contributing to the country's economic development. It highlighted the necessity of focusing on agricultural investment and attracting foreign investment in the areas of livestock and fisheries production. The plan includes incorporating aquaculture into the livestock production programme to expand and diversify the sector.The sector also pointed out the critical need for strengthening the basic infrastructure of the livestock industry, with a particula r focus on enhancing transport and logistics for livestock exports. Furthermore, it underscored the importance of increasing livestock production, improving value addition, and fostering partnerships with both local and international private sector entities. These collaborations are expected to play a crucial role in the modernization and development of quarantine facilities and livestock marketing strategies.
