Khartoum: The Democratic Bloc held the opening session of its second organizational conference with the participation of both civilian and security leaders in Port Sudan. The gathering aims to address significant challenges facing the group, emphasizing the importance of unity in the current political climate.
According to Sudan News Agency, Bloc Chairman Jaafar Al-Mirghani highlighted that unity is not merely a luxury but the essential tool needed to confront ongoing challenges. He acknowledged the real test the bloc faces in managing internal diversity and building consensus among its members. Al-Mirghani pointed to positive developments such as the resurgence of activities in Khartoum, the reopening of airport operations, the resumption of student examinations, and increased regional engagement as signs of progress. He urged for a unified vision and agenda to navigate these complex times.
Darfur Region Governor and Political Committee Head Minni Arko Minnawi underscored the importance of maintaining cohesion within the bloc, describing it as a "national necessity." He called for more robust engagement with public concerns to ensure the bloc's efforts align with the needs of the populace.
The conference also saw Preparatory Committee Head Al-Amin Dawoud advocating for unity, transparency, and fair representation. He stressed the importance of adhering to the conference outcomes and prioritizing national interests to foster a stronger and more cohesive Democratic Bloc.
