Khartoum: Minister of Cabinet Affairs Dr. Limia Abdel-Ghafar chaired today the first meeting of the Economic Sector of the Council of Ministers, attended by the sector's ministers and a number of officials from relevant authorities.
According to Sudan News Agency, the meeting reviewed the working methodology and responsibilities of the ministerial sectors, which include proposing general policies and monitoring their implementation, preparing unified sectoral plans within their areas of work, recommending them to the Council of Ministers for approval, and following up on their execution according to specific performance measurement criteria.
The meeting also heard a report on the strategic sorghum reserve presented by Minister of Industry and Trade Mahasin Ali Yagoub. The report highlighted the main challenges facing the production sector in general and the sorghum sector in particular, and discussed ways to overcome them to increase output and enhance productivity. The discussions also stressed the importance of maintaining strategic reserves and expanding storage infrastructure for sorghum and silos by developing existing facilities and establishing new, advanced storage units, thereby supporting the country's food security.
