Tawila: The Australian Charity Doctors of Humanitarian Aid implemented a food distribution program for displaced persons (IDPs) from El-Fashir, the capital of North Darfur State, at Khazan Tangar Camp in Tawila Locality. This follows earlier distributions at Zamzam, Abu Shouk, and Abuja camps, supported significantly by Kheir Relief Association – Australia.
According to Sudan News Agency, the program targeted 400 of the most vulnerable displaced families, including women, widows, orphans, children, the elderly, and persons with disabilities, as well as families living in critically dire humanitarian conditions.
The organization noted that the number of new displaced families in Tawila Locality is estimated at around 35,000, with figures continuing to rise. The displaced population is suffering from severe shortages of food, shelter, drinking water, and healthcare amid a deteriorating humanitarian situation and an increasing risk of famine.
The organization issued an urgent humanitarian appeal to all local, regional, and international organizations to help fill the significant food gap, provide essential needs, and deliver healthcare support to the displaced persons.
