London: The annual meeting of the Malaria Control Program in Al-Qadarif State has put forth a series of recommendations aimed at supporting the 2026 Malaria Control Plan. These recommendations focus on enhancing ongoing efforts to combat malaria, one of the significant health burdens in the state, and on increasing community awareness through tailored educational materials.
According to Sudan News Agency, the meeting gathered program coordinators from all twelve state localities and representatives from the National Medical Supplies Fund. The objective was to review and evaluate the performance of the program for the year 2025, identify challenges, and devise a robust plan for 2026. Professor Wajdan Abdel Baqi Mohammed, the state program coordinator, emphasized that the meeting is a step towards reducing the spread of malaria and improving related services. The meeting aimed to review the annual performance in line with the future plan, address challenges faced in the current year, and evaluate the drug supply chain.
During the session, the detailed objectives were discussed, including the activities and interventions carried out at local and state levels over the past year. Participants shared lessons learned, enhanced communication between localities, and highlighted the critical role of the information system in supporting malaria control efforts. Additionally, priorities for the 2026 plan were set.
Local authorities presented reports on their 2025 performance, highlighting the challenges encountered in malaria control operations. They also reviewed the status of drug supply coverage for health institutions, stressing the importance of adhering to controls for dispensing global support drugs and determining the actual drug needs to prevent supply interruptions.
The program recognized four localities for their outstanding performance and results, as evaluated by federal state supervisory teams. These localities excelled in information quality, drug availability conformity at local and institutional levels, and the follow-up on staff training and the activation of the diagnostic quality control program.
