Khartoum: Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation Professor Ismat Gurashi reaffirmed the state’s commitment to ensuring a successful agricultural season during a meeting with farmer groups from Al-Rahad, Al-Gezira, and New Halfa projects.
According to Sudan News Agency, discussions addressed key impediments including irrigation, financing, and pest control. The minister announced urgent measures, including expanding canal-cleaning operations, strengthening coordination with the Ministry of Energy to stabilize electricity supply, and leveraging private sector capacity.
He stressed support for irrigation management in Al-Gezira and improvements to infrastructure in New Halfa, alongside enhanced field engagement to secure food production.
