Beijing: A memorandum of understanding (MoU) on strategic cooperation was signed on Sunday at the Embassy of the Republic of the Sudan in Beijing between the Sudanese Agricultural Bank and China's LOVOL, one of the world's leading manufacturers of agricultural machinery and equipment. The signing ceremony was attended by Sudan's Ambassador to China, Omar Issa Ahmed, and General Manager of the Sudanese Agricultural Bank, Salah Mohamed Abdel Rahim Ali, along with a number of officials and experts from both sides. According to Sudan News Agency, the MoU aims to establish a comprehensive framework for cooperation in the supply of modern agricultural machinery and equipment, the development of agricultural financing solutions, and support for programmes aimed at modernizing Sudan's agricultural sector. The agreement also includes exploring opportunities for establishing maintenance and technical training centres, transferring advanced agricultural expertise and technologies to Sudan, and examining prospects for f uture local assembly of agricultural equipment. General Manager of the Sudanese Agricultural Bank, Salah Mohamed Abdel Rahim Ali, stated that the signing of the MoU represents an important milestone in advancing the bank's international partnerships and reflects its keenness to benefit from China's advanced expertise in agricultural mechanization and modern technologies. He noted that such cooperation would contribute to increasing agricultural productivity, improving the efficiency of agricultural operations, and strengthening food security. The signing of the memorandum came as the culmination of a series of meetings and discussions held by the Sudanese delegation with several Chinese financial, development, and industrial institutions. In Beijing, the delegation conducted important talks with the Agricultural Bank of China (ABC), one of the world's largest banking institutions, during which the two sides discussed prospects for banking cooperation and the exchange of expertise in agricultural financing, financing of major projects, and support for small-scale producers. The Chinese side expressed readiness to enhance cooperation with the Sudanese Agricultural Bank in areas of mutual interest. The delegation also held meetings with Shandong Hi-Speed Group, where discussions focused on opportunities for financing agricultural projects and developing infrastructure and logistics services supporting the agricultural sector. In Weifang City, Shandong Province, the delegation conducted field visits to several leading agricultural machinery manufacturers, foremost among them LOVOL, where members of the delegation reviewed the latest production lines and technologies used in the manufacture of tractors and agricultural machinery. These visits paved the way for the signing of the memorandum, which marks the beginning of a new phase of cooperation between the two sides. The tour also extended to Jiangsu Province, where the delegation visited FAMSUN and Zhengchang, companies specializing in feed technologies, proces sing systems, storage solutions, and silos. The delegation concluded its industrial tour in Henan Province with visits to YTO and SRON, where it reviewed the latest technologies in the manufacture of tractors, agricultural equipment, and modern silo and storage systems. The signing of the memorandum with LOVOL, together with the meetings held by the delegation with Chinese financial, development, and industrial institutions, reflects support for efforts aimed at building strategic partnerships that contribute to modernizing Sudan's agricultural sector and expanding prospects for economic and technical cooperation between Sudan and China, thereby enhancing agricultural production, food security, and sustainable development.
