Khartoum: The African Union (AU) Envoy for the Prevention of Genocide has arrived in Sudan for a four-day official visit. During this visit, he is scheduled to engage with officials from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Justice, the Attorney General, and the Ministry of Religious Affairs. The envoy’s visit underscores a critical effort in addressing the ongoing conflict within the nation.
According to Sudan News Agency, the African official will be evaluating the current situation, particularly focusing on the violations perpetrated by the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia. These violations have targeted innocent civilians across several Sudanese states. Additionally, the discussions will address the threats posed by these attacks, which are reportedly supported by external actors, to Sudan’s unity, security, and stability.
This visit forms part of the African Union’s comprehensive approach to ensuring Sudan’s security and stability. It highlights the organization’s commitment to ending the war and stopping the violations committed by the rebel militia.
