Khartoum: The Ministry of Youth and Sports held a coordination meeting at the Ministry of Interior to finalize arrangements for the Khartoum Sports and Culture Festival, scheduled for January 1, 2026, under the patronage of the Member of Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and Head of the Khartoum State Reconstruction Committee, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Jabir. According to Sudan News Agency, officials stated that the festival is envisioned as a unifying national event marking the revival of sports and cultural life in the capital. It is intended to reaffirm the ministry's support for youth initiatives and organized sport. The Head of the Khartoum State Athletics Federation, Ali Abdullah Omar, emphasized the central role of athletics in the programme, confirming full technical and administrative readiness. Four race routes have been approved, covering most localities of the capital. These include routes from the Higher Council for Youth and Sports headquarters to the Boats Club, from Al-Manshiya Bridge to the Boa ts Club, from the Tennis Club, and from in front of the Signal Corps. He noted that the races will be open to wide participation across age groups, reinforcing the principle of 'sport for all.' The Secretary-General of the Sudan Athletics Federation, Mohamed Osman Al-Gabouri, reported that close coordination is underway with state and federal authorities to deliver the races to high technical and organizational standards. Closing the meeting, Police Spokesperson Brig. (Police) Fath Al-Rahman Mohamed Tom stated that strong inter-institutional coordination will ensure the smooth and secure execution of all festival events.
