Port sudan: The Ministry of Health received a team of experts from the Regional Office of the World Health Organization (WHO), in the presence of WHO Country Representative in Sudan, Dr. Shibl Sohbani, as part of continued support and a comprehensive strategy to strengthen the health sector in Sudan.
According to Sudan News Agency, during a meeting held this morning at the Quarantine Hall in Port Sudan, Minister of Health Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim affirmed that the visit aims to assist Sudan in developing a post-war health strategy. The three-day visit includes meetings at the federal level with health leaders, discussions with state ministers of health, consultations with relevant ministries, as well as field visits to assess the health system and the medical supply chain.
He described this step as essential for developing a five-year strategic plan that takes into account the changes Sudan has recently witnessed, with the objective of building a resilient health system in the post-war period.
For his part, Dr. Shibl Sohbani explained that the purpose of the visit is to support the Ministry of Health in rebuilding the health system and providing health services, noting that the delegation includes a group of experts. He reaffirmed WHO’s commitment to supporting Sudan.
The visit reflects the close cooperation between Sudan and WHO, and strengthens hope for improving the health situation despite the significant challenges facing the country.
