Sennar: The World Health Organization (WHO) has delivered medical supplies to the Ministry of Health in Sennar State to combat cholera. Minister of Health and Social Development in Sennar State, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Awad Ahmed, expressed appreciation for WHO’s efforts and continuous support to the health system in the region, urging for further interventions to bolster the fight against the disease.
According to Sudan News Agency, the Commissioner of the Humanitarian Aid Commission commended WHO’s interventions, emphasizing that the commission will maintain its collaborative programs with relevant authorities to benefit citizens. This partnership aims to ensure effective delivery and utilization of the health resources provided.
Furthermore, the Director of Primary Health Care, Fatima Mohammed Abdel-Halim, clarified that the medical supplies include essential medicines for four health centers in the state, alongside cholera treatments and mental health medicines. These supplies are expected to enhance the capacity of local health facilities in managing and controlling outbreaks.
WHO Coordinator in Sennar State, Mustafa Mohammed Issa, highlighted that the medical supplies were part of an initiative to support primary health care services and combat cholera, with funding from the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre. This initiative underscores the ongoing international support to improve health outcomes in the region.
