Port sudan: The Wali of Red Sea State, Major General Mustafa Mohamed Nour Mahmoud, on Friday oversaw the launch of the second phase of an environmental sanitation campaign in the Eastern Sector of Port Sudan. The campaign is organized by the Higher Committee for Emergency and Flood Response as part of efforts to address flood emergencies and combat disease vectors.
According to Sudan News Agency, the launch was attended by the Executive Director of Port Sudan Locality, Mohamed Saleh, the Director of the State Cleaning Corporation, members of the Higher Committee for Emergency and Flood Response, representatives of sports clubs, and other relevant bodies.
The Wali commended the role of community initiatives, sports clubs, and women's participation in supporting environmental sanitation efforts, reaffirming the state government's support for such campaigns.
The Chairman of the Higher Committee for Emergency and Flood Response, Mohamed Othman, said the campaign reflects confidence in the community's role and aims to mobilize initiatives and community cadres to support the state government, assist the executive apparatus, and reduce pressure on the locality. He noted that the program was coordinated with youth groups, sports clubs, mobilized personnel, mosques, Quranic schools (Khalawi), women, and other active sectors.
At the conclusion of the event, the Wali was honored by the Committee and several sports clubs in recognition of his efforts.
