Khartoum: Prince Al-Tahir Abdul Rahman Bahar Al-Din, the General Supervisor of the “Mostafran” Spear of the Nation Brigade, has expressed strong opposition to the recent decision by the US Treasury Department concerning Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan Abdel Rahman, the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces. He criticized the decision as lacking justice and deviating from truth.
According to Sudan News Agency, Prince Al-Tahir described the decision as subjective and unfounded, arguing that it disregards the actual circumstances in Sudan. He accused the US Treasury Department of basing its decision on misleading information and questioned the commitment of the American administration to justice and human rights. He emphasized that the Sudanese people have suffered due to ongoing conflicts initiated by rebel militias and their supporters, and he called for an end to hostilities against Sudan and its institutions.
Prince Al-Tahir further stated that th
e decision undermines peace and stability in the country and disrespects the dignity of the Sudanese people. He noted the unity of the Sudanese people in support of their armed forces and their Commander-in-Chief, whom they view as a symbol of national sovereignty. He lauded the armed forces for their sacrifices and recent victories in battles, particularly in Wad Madani, against the Janjaweed militias.
He highlighted the role of the armed forces in instilling hope among refugees and displaced persons, encouraging their return to their homes. He questioned the timing and rationale behind the US Treasury Department’s decision, given previous American acknowledgments of crimes committed by rebel militias in Sudan. Prince Al-Tahir suggested that the decision might inadvertently encourage further conflict by the militias.
In conclusion, Prince Al-Tahir called upon the Sudanese people to persist in their struggle and resistance in support of the armed forces. He affirmed that the decision by the US Treasury Depa
rtment would only strengthen their resolve to fight alongside the military against the rebel militias.
