Kampala: The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Hussein Al-Amin Al-Fadil, met with the Special Envoy of the Republic of Portugal to Africa, Ambassador Rita Laringina, during the 19th Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Kampala. The meeting took place from October 14 to 16.
According to Sudan News Agency, Ambassador Al-Fadil briefed the Portuguese envoy on Sudan’s recent developments, particularly focusing on the formation of the Government of Hope under Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris. He highlighted the Transitional Government’s efforts in promoting reconstruction and facilitating humanitarian aid by designating specific airports and crossings to ensure efficient assistance delivery to citizens affected by the war. Furthermore, he discussed Sudan’s engagement with the European Union to restore security and stability and normalize life in areas recaptured from the rebel militia.
Ambassador Rita Laringina conveyed her understanding of Sudan’s situation and the broader regional impact of the conflict. She emphasized the importance of cooperation between Sudan and Portugal across international forums. In this context, Ambassador Al-Fadil expressed Sudan’s hope for Portugal’s support against any hostile actions threatening the nation’s security, stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
