Juba: Vice-President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Malik Agar, arrived in Juba, South Sudan, on an official visit to discuss bilateral relations and explore ways to enhance prospects for joint cooperation. He held discussions with President of the Republic of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, focusing on recent political and military developments in Sudan, the humanitarian situation, and the siege of El-Fashir.
According to Sudan News Agency, Agar briefed President Salva Kiir on the progress made by Sudan’s armed forces in their efforts against the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia. The discussions also included Sudan’s stance, along with international and regional organizations, against the formation of a parallel government by the RSF militia and its allies.
Agar emphasized the importance of activating joint ministerial committees between the two nations, particularly the political and security committees. The meetings also addressed the refugee crisis stemming from the ongoing conflict, highlighting issues of concern to citizens of both countries.
Furthermore, Agar extended an invitation to President Salva Kiir for a visit to Sudan, which was accepted, with arrangements to be facilitated through diplomatic channels. President Salva Kiir reiterated South Sudan’s commitment to supporting stability in Sudan and continuing bilateral cooperation.
In addition to meeting with President Kiir, TSC Vice-President Agar also engaged in talks with his counterpart, Vice President of the Republic of South Sudan, Dr. Paul Mel. Their discussions covered issues of mutual interest, joint economic matters, and other pertinent topics.
