Khartoum: The Secretary-General of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Lt. Gen. Mohamed El-Gali Ali Yousef, convened a meeting on Wednesday at the Republican Palace in Khartoum. The meeting was attended by members of the Republican Palace Rehabilitation Committee.
According to Sudan News Agency, the TSC Secretary-General reviewed the progress of the first phase of the Republican Palace rehabilitation project, which entailed cleaning and debris removal. He announced the successful completion of this phase and commended the efforts of the committee involved.
Lt. Gen. Mohamed El-Gali also stated that the second phase, focused on identifying the requirements for the rehabilitation process, will commence immediately. The third phase will involve the actual renovation work.
The TSC Secretary-General expressed gratitude to the Chinese government for its commitment to maintaining and rehabilitating the new Republican Palace and the Friendship Hall.
Regarding other structures within the Republican Palace complex, the TSC Secretary-General mentioned that several national companies are set to rehabilitate the General Secretariat and maintain the remaining buildings.
He clarified that the old Republican Palace and the museum would not undergo rehabilitation or maintenance due to their status as historic buildings under UNESCO’s purview.
