Khartoum: President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, met with the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Sudan, Hani Salah, in the presence of Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Hussein Al-Amin.
According to Sudan News Agency, Ambassador Hani stated in a press briefing that the meeting was cordial and positive, as he relayed greetings from President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi to General Al-Burhan. In return, General Al-Burhan expressed his gratitude and greetings to President El-Sisi for the reception in El-Alamein on June 30.
The discussions during the meeting focused on the outcomes of the El-Alamein Summit, which are expected to significantly influence the trajectory of bilateral relations between Sudan and Egypt. Ambassador Hani briefed the TSC President on the progress in relations between the two nations, mentioning the upcoming joint ministerial trade committee meeting and the Egyptian-Sudanese Business Forum.
The ambassador reiterated Egypt’s unwavering support for Sudan in regional and international arenas. He emphasized Egypt’s commitment to backing Sudan across various platforms.
Furthermore, the Egyptian Ambassador highlighted General Al-Burhan’s assurance of Sudan’s complete support for Egypt on the critical issue of the Nile waters. Both countries plan to continue coordination at high levels, particularly between their foreign and irrigation ministers, in view of recent developments that may affect their mutual interests.
Ambassador Hani Salah also expressed anticipation for the activation of a 2+2 mechanism involving the foreign and irrigation ministers from both countries in the near future.
