Khartoum: President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, met on Tuesday with the African Union Representative in Sudan, Mohamed Beleish. The meeting was attended by the State Minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Omar Siddig, and the Acting Director of the African Affairs Directorate, Ambassador Ahmed Youssef.
According to Sudan News Agency, Mohamed Beleish conveyed to the TSC President the greetings of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC), Ambassador Ali Mahmoud Youssef, affirming his support for Sudan’s unity and stability. He stated that his visit aimed to explore ways to achieve peace, security, and stability in Sudan, noting that the meeting was characterized by transparency and addressed overall developments in the country.
Beleish expressed hope for Sudan to become a model for crisis resolution in Africa. He emphasized the importance of forming an independent civilian government with national competencies as a step toward alleviating the suffering of the Sudanese people and improving services. This, he noted, would aid in the gradual reconstruction process, enabling displaced individuals and refugees to return home.
The African Union representative commended the armed forces for their efforts to defeat the rebellion and restore stability. He highlighted the importance of dialogue to resolve differences and heal past grievances, referencing the agreement signed in Jeddah on May 11, 2023, as a foundation for ending the conflict and facilitating meaningful dialogue among Sudan’s people.
