Khartoum: President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, has received a phone call from United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Ant³nio Guterres. During this exchange, Guterres expressed his support for the recent appointment of Dr. Kamil Idris as Prime Minister, viewing it as a positive step toward advancing the civilian transition process.
According to Sudan News Agency, the UN Secretary-General reaffirmed the organization’s backing of the transitional government’s efforts. General Al-Burhan reiterated his dedication to forming a government composed of independents tasked with exercising full executive powers. This commitment underscores the ongoing efforts to stabilize the political landscape in the region.
Moreover, during the conversation, Guterres requested a one-week humanitarian armistice in El-Fashir Locality to aid UN operations. The aim is to facilitate the delivery of necessary assistance to thousands of civilians currently trapped in the area. In response, the TSC President agreed to the proposed humanitarian armistice, emphasizing the importance of adhering to relevant Security Council resolutions to ensure successful implementation.
