Khartoum: President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, convened with the Turkish Ambassador to Sudan, Fatih Yildiz, to discuss the progress and enhancement of bilateral ties between Sudan and Turkey.
According to Sudan News Agency, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Hussein Al-Amin Al-Fadil, revealed in a press statement that the meeting covered various aspects of the relationship between the two nations, focusing on the development projects Turkey plans to implement in Sudan. Among these is the anticipated resumption of Turkish Airlines operations from Portsudan, set for early June.
The discussion also addressed Turkey’s ongoing humanitarian aid to Sudan, exploring additional routes for aid delivery in central and western regions of the country. Ambassador Al-Fadil conveyed President Al-Burhan’s gratitude for Turkey’s supportive roles in international and regional forums, as well as the participation of Turkey in the London Ministerial Conference on Sudan.
Turkish Ambassador Fatih Yildiz expressed appreciation for the bilateral relations and reiterated Turkey’s steadfast support for Sudan’s stability and sovereignty. He briefed President Al-Burhan on Turkey’s participation in the London Ministerial Conference and outlined outcomes from recent discussions between Al-Burhan and Turkish President Erdogan, aimed at strengthening the partnership and advancing joint cooperation.
Ambassador Yildiz also announced the resumption of Turkish Airlines flights and the reopening of the Turkish Ziraat Bank branch in Portsudan, highlighting these as initiatives to elevate Sudanese-Turkish relations to new heights.
