Khartoum: President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, met on Sunday with a French parliamentary delegation headed by Mr. Christopher Mario, in the presence of Darfur Region Governor Minni Arko Minnawi. The meeting discussed developments in Sudan and government efforts to achieve security and stability across the country.
According to Sudan News Agency, the TSC President briefed the French delegation on violations and atrocities committed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia against civilians, in addition to the systematic targeting of state assets, institutions, and infrastructure projects.
French parliamentarian Mr. Christopher Mario stated that the visit aims to assess grave violations committed against civilians by the RSF militia in Darfur and other regions. He emphasized that France maintains close relations with Sudan and is working with European partners to ensure Sudan's unity. Mr. Mario also noted that he has submitted a request to the French Parliament to designate the RSF militia as a terrorist organization, citing its inhumane practices and crimes against civilians.
Mr. Mario further mentioned that the French Foreign Minister plans to visit Sudan in the coming period alongside the German Foreign Minister. He described this move as evidence of France's willingness to strengthen relations with Sudan as a strategic partner, affirming that stability in Sudan represents stability for the wider region.
