Khartoum: Presiding over by Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and Assistant Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Jabir, in the presence of the Attorney General, the Higher Committee for Currency Replacement has held its 28th meeting.
According to Sudan News Agency, the meeting discussed arrangements for the currency replacement process in Al-Gezira State, scheduled for next August. The discussions included reviewing the status of banks operating in the state and the technical, security, and logistical arrangements necessary for the replacement process. Particular attention was given to the opening of bank accounts for citizens and simplifying related procedures.
The meeting also addressed the progress of the work of the Emergency Chamber Supervisory Committee and reviewed reports submitted on this matter. The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture and Information, Sumaya Al-Hadi, explained that the meeting received a report on the networking process between banks, which is currently 77% complete, indicating that the process is proceeding according to plan.
Sumaya added that the Central Bank of Sudan (CBoS) confirmed the completion of all arrangements related to the electronic exchange and payment process in Al-Gezira State, with the state’s banks reported to be more than 66% ready.
