Khartoum: Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Dr. Salma Abdel-Jabbar Al-Mubarak, has reviewed the overall challenges facing the agricultural season at Al-Rahad Agricultural Scheme following the loss of several of the project’s belongings due to the war.
According to Sudan News Agency, during her meeting on Tuesday with the Chairman of Al-Rahad Agricultural Scheme Regulatory Board, Abdal-Azim Abdal-Bagi, TSC Member affirmed her interest in following up on issues related to the project’s rehabilitation. She addressed the vandalization to its various divisions, particularly the irrigation and electricity systems, and emphasized providing the necessary requirements for the success of the 2025-2026 season.
For his part, the Chairman of Al-Rahad Agricultural Scheme Regulatory Board, Abdal-Azim Abdal-Bagi, explained in a press statement that the meeting touched on the challenges and problems facing the current agricultural season. Despite efforts made to provide electricity at the transformer station to operate Al-Sharif Port pumps and establish solar energy systems, challenges remain.
The meeting also highlighted the need to clean the main canal, its subsidiary canals, and the major ones. The Chairman of Al-Rahad Scheme Regulatory Board announced the return of a number of farmers, with 150,000 acres having been cultivated.
He noted that the terrorist militia had disrupted approximately 62% of the project’s area for two seasons, requiring the provision of new machinery and equipment and the maintenance of all pumps to ensure the success of the current season.
