Khartoum: Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Dr. Salma Abdel-Jabbar Al-Mubarak, reviewed the arrangements made by the Federal Ministry of Education and Patriotism for its full return to its headquarters in Khartoum, and the resumption of its duties from its permanent premises on Nile Street. Dr. Salma was received by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Patriotism, Dr. Ahmed Khalifa Omar, along with other ministry leaders.
According to Sudan News Agency, Dr. Salma received a detailed explanation of the ministry’s efforts to rehabilitate its headquarters and specialized Directorates, along with a plan for rebuilding and rehabilitating schools. She emphasized the importance of restoring essential services in Khartoum State, particularly education, as a key factor in achieving progress.
Dr. Salma highlighted the visit’s revelation of systematic vandalization targeting educational infrastructure. She affirmed that there will be significant efforts to maintain and rehabilitate schools to enable them to resume operations soon, allowing students to continue their studies.
The TSC Member further stated that the post-war period would focus on building and developing minds through the expansion of education and knowledge among the Sudanese people, with a renewed understanding of patriotism and reconstruction.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Patriotism expressed his appreciation for the Transitional Sovereignty Council’s growing concern. He noted the importance of Dr. Salma’s visit to the Federal Ministry’s headquarters, where she witnessed the extensive devastation inflicted on educational institutions by rebel militia elements. He revealed a transitional plan by his ministry to rebuild education in Sudan, involving participation from all states and contributions from donors and national and international partnerships for the reconstruction of educational institutions.
Additionally, the Undersecretary reassured parents that schools and educational institutions in Sudan will return with enhanced beauty and appeal, both in terms of infrastructure and aesthetics.
