Sennar: Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Dr. Salma Abdul-Jabbar Al-Mubarak, has reviewed the effects of the systematic vandalization and sabotage that occurred in various sections of the Sennar Sugar Factory. This was in the presence of Sennar Wali (governor), Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Al-Zubair Hassan Al-Sayid, and members of the State Security Committee.
According to Sudan News Agency, during her visit to the Sennar Sugar Factory, Her Excellency stated that she would work with all parties to provide the necessary support to restore the factory to better performance than before. She added that the factory plays a significant economic role in supplying the local market with sugar, supporting the export sector, and reducing unemployment by creating seasonal and permanent jobs.
TSC Member praised the social role the factory continues to play, as it supports thousands of families and provides many essential services to citizens in the project villages. For his part, the Minister of Finance and Manpower in Sennar State, Dr. Mahjoub Ahmed Mohamed, explained that the factory represents the largest economic edifice contributing to the state treasury with lucrative revenues. It also supports more than 20,000 workers, in addition to the valuable social services it provides to the people of the state, which contributes to stability and settlement.
The Director of the Sennar Sugar Factory, Engineer Mohamed Dafallah, revealed the extent of the extensive devastation to the factory’s divisions and machinery. He noted that work has begun to remove war remnants and clear irrigation canals, in addition to rehabilitating the workshop, maintaining machinery, and cultivating the land.
