Al-gadarif: Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Dr. Nawara Abu Mohamed, accompanied by the Wali of Al-Gadarif State, Lt. Gen. Mohamed Ahmed Hassan, has witnessed the destruction of 70 tons of expired materials at the Customs Administration incinerator on Sunday. The materials were valued at an estimated 600 million Sudanese pounds.
According to Sudan News Agency, Dr. Nawara praised the efforts of Sudan’s Police Forces and the Customs Police in safeguarding the nation from the dangers of smuggling and the entry of expired and non-compliant materials. These materials pose significant health risks to citizens and society and contribute to the destruction of youth through the entry of narcotics.
The Wali of Al-Gadarif State commended the Customs Administration’s crucial role in protecting consumers and citizens from the dangers posed by expired products. He noted that the large number of seizures this year reflects the security forces’ success in fulfilling their responsibilities effectively.
Brig. Gen. (Police) Bakri Al-Bashir Abu Gurun explained that the destroyed materials violated import laws, specifications, and standards. He emphasized that the Customs Administration’s actions were not merely procedural but a demonstration of their commitment to protecting the national economy.
Brig. Gen. Abu Gurun also highlighted the importance of Customs in the Battle of Dignity, acknowledging the martyrs who defended the country’s unity and sovereignty.
