This arrangement notably excludes the stringent UN inspections that the US has previously mandated for Iran. Trump clarified in a post on Truth Social that the civil nuclear deal is strictly for non-military purposes, similar to agreements with Iran and the UAE, and is dependent on Saudi Arabia's inclusion in the Abraham Accords, which aim to normalize relations with Israel.
Saudi Arabia has maintained that it will not sign the Abraham Accords without a clear pathway to Palestinian statehood. The Abraham Accords, brokered by Washington during Trump's first term, marked a significant diplomatic effort to improve relations between Israel and its Arab neighbors. While the UAE, Bahrain, and Morocco have joined the Accords, Sudan's participation is still under consideration.
