Port Sudan: Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and Assistant Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Jabir chaired the 26th meeting of the Supreme Committee for Currency Exchange and Replacement on Tuesday. The committee urged citizens of Gezira State to expedite the process of opening bank accounts to facilitate the currency replacement process, as has been done in other states.
According to Sudan News Agency, the meeting confirmed that most federal revenue units have been successfully linked to the electronic collection and payment system. Efforts are underway to link state units responsible for electronic collection and payment to this system as well.
Minister of Culture and Information and Government Spokesperson Khalid Al-Aiser noted, in a press statement, that the meeting included a review of the Emergency Supervisory Committee for Electronic Payments report. Additionally, the Financial Information Unit presented a report on monitoring mechanisms for electronic transfers to prevent exploitation for suspicious activities or usurious practices.
