Addis ababa: Sudan’s Permanent Representative to the African Union (AU), Al-Zein Ibrahim Hussein, held a meeting with the Head of the International Organizations of Migration (IOM) Mission in Ethiopia, Ms. Habibetou Wani Fall, on June 27, 2025. The meeting focused on the IOM’s role and services offered to Sudanese refugees in Ethiopia, discussing the situation of displaced Sudanese citizens and efforts to facilitate their safe movement.
According to Sudan News Agency, Ambassador Al-Zein emphasized the need for joint coordination to address the matter, highlighting the commitment of both diplomatic and humanitarian entities to assist those affected. The Sudan’s Permanent Representative urged the IOM, in collaboration with the UNHCR and partners, to enhance efforts in providing protection, logistical support, and facilitating voluntary return.
Ambassador Al-Zein Ibrahim informed the IOM official about the influx of refugees into Blue Nile and Al-Gadarif states, noting that with restored security, many have started resettling, engaging in agriculture, trade, and herding under local authorities’ supervision.
