Berlin: The Sudanese mission in Berlin continued its series of meetings with members of the German Parliament (Bundestag), where Ambassador Elham Ibrahim Mohamed Ahmed, accompanied by Deputy Head of Mission Ambassador Idris Mohamed Ali, met on Thursday at the Parliament with Ms. Deria Turk Nashabour, Bundestag member from the Social Democratic Party (SPD), a partner in the current ruling coalition.
According to Sudan News Agency, during the meeting, the Ambassador discussed developments in Sudan and the significant progress made by the Armed Forces in restoring peace and stability, combating terrorist militias that ignited the war, which after failing in their externally supported plans, turned into a systematic targeting of civilians and vandalization of essential infrastructure and strategic facilities. She also highlighted the ongoing siege of El-Fashir by militias, which prevents the delivery of humanitarian aid, seizing and plundering it.
Ms. Nashabour expressed her interest in Sudan, which she had previously visited, and her genuine desire to follow developments in the country, describing Sudan as an important nation in the region with large and diverse resources, making it a focus of attention and intersecting interests. She condemned the siege of El-Fashir and the obstruction of humanitarian aid to civilians.
The Ambassador Ilham expressed appreciation for the humanitarian support provided by Germany, calling on the German Parliament to enhance understanding of the nature and reality of the situation in Sudan, urging the German government to strengthen constructive positions that promote positive engagement between the two countries. She reaffirmed Sudan’s commitment to peace and openness to initiatives that respect the country’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, serve its higher interests, and safeguard the rights of the Sudanese people.
