Khartoum: The institutions overseeing the media sector in Sudan – led by the Ministry of Culture, Information, and Tourism, the Martyr Osman Makkawi Center, and the Military Intelligence Directorate – have achieved a remarkable milestone in creating an enabling environment for media operations.
According to Sudan News Agency, through its External Media Directorate, the Ministry of Culture, Information, and Tourism granted permits to 153 foreign television channels, radio stations, and news agencies to cover various events across Khartoum State during September. This was carried out in close coordination with the Martyr Osman Makkawi Center and the Military Intelligence Directorate, which jointly supervised the implementation of this notable initiative.
These media outlets contributed to portraying an authentic picture of life gradually returning to normal in Khartoum neighborhoods by broadcasting field reports and public interviews, and by highlighting the Ministry of Health’s efforts to curb the spread of diseases. The coverage also included press conferences held throughout September, as well as reports on the impact of floods and torrential rains, in addition to spotlighting humanitarian organizations’ efforts to deliver aid and assistance to those affected.
