Khartoum: Sudan has renewed its call on the international community, with all its organizations and countries, to exert more pressure on the rebel terrorist militia and its regional sponsor. It also called for the designation of the militia as a terrorist group and the imposition of sanctions on it and its regional sponsor to ensure its compliance with the will of the international community, out of a commitment to maintaining regional peace and security.
According to Sudan News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a press statement on Wednesday, highlighting the UN Security Council’s strong condemnation of the recent attack on the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) in the Birao region. This attack tragically resulted in the death of a peacekeeper while they were performing their duties.
The Ministry stated that the Security Council members expressed concern over the increasing attacks against peacekeepers in the Central African Republic. These attacks were attributed to systematic incursions by elements of the terrorist Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, which allegedly supports armed rebel groups in the region.
The official UN translation of the statement published by the Sudan News Agency (SUNA) emphasizes that this explicit condemnation by the UN Security Council holds the RSF militia responsible for exacerbating the conflict in the Central African Republic. It confirms Sudan’s warnings about the militia’s criminal activities and its disregard for international calls and resolutions, particularly those from the UN Security Council.
