Sudan: Sudan participated in the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, hosted at United Nations (UN) Headquarters in New York during July 14-23, with a high-level delegation headed by Dr. Mohammed Bashar, Undersecretary for Economic Planning at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning. This year’s forum was held under the theme “Promoting Comprehensive, Science- and Evidence-Based Sustainable Solutions for the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals to Leave No One Behind.”
According to Sudan News Agency, on Friday, Sudan presented its third Voluntary National Review at the United Nations, reviewing its progress in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals, as well as the most prominent challenges, opportunities, and lessons learned at the national level. The report was widely acclaimed by participating delegations, NGOs, and stakeholders, who commended the efforts made under the exceptional circumstances facing Sudan and expressed their appreciation for the practical steps and progress made toward achieving the goals of the 2030 Agenda.
Sudan submitted its first Voluntary National Review in 2018 and its second in 2022. The High-Level Political Forum is one of the most prominent UN forums for monitoring the implementation of the 2030 Agenda. It also serves as an effective platform for exchanging experiences and best practices and enhancing international cooperation, especially in light of the accelerating challenges facing Sudan, along with many developing and post-conflict countries.
