New york: With Sudan’s participation, the Forum for Promoting Sustainable Development Goals kicks off in New York. Sudan has sent a high-level delegation to the High Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, currently taking place at the United Nations Headquarters from July 14 to 23. The delegation is led by Dr. Mohamed Bashar, Undersecretary of Planning at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning.
According to Sudan News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a statement noting that this year’s forum operates under the slogan: ‘Promoting sustainable, inclusive, science-based and evidence-based solutions for the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals.’ The event emphasizes reviewing five key Sustainable Development Goals, which include health, gender equality, economic growth and decent work, life below water, and international partnerships.
The statement further elaborates that Sudan will present its third Voluntary National Review during the forum. This review will cover the progress made, challenges encountered, and lessons learned in implementing the 2030 Agenda. Sudan aims to demonstrate its commitment to sustainable development, strengthen its presence in international forums, and exchange experiences with member states. This participation is especially significant given the challenges faced by developing countries and those emerging from conflict.
