Kuwait City: The Undersecretary of Planning at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Mohamed Bashar, has represented the government of Sudan in the Middle East and North Africa Water Development Financing Forum, which was recently held in the State of Kuwait and organized by the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development in partnership with the World Bank.
According to Sudan News Agency, the Fund launched a business platform during the forum to finance water projects at the cost of 10 billion dollars, under the title ‘Our Water, Our Life’. The platform includes a group of development projects in the water sector at the Arab level and provides financing and technical solutions to companies and member states.
An operational system was established by the Fund to continuously activate the platform by marketing and publishing numerous water development projects for all countries. The platform was attended by Arab finance and water ministers, the Arab Coordination Group, several experts, decision-makers, regional and international organizations, and investors.
The forum discussed the financing of sustainable water projects in the region with the aim of addressing water scarcity, supporting sustainability, and fostering economic resilience. It also explored ways to enhance cooperation between the public and private sectors to support innovation and financing solutions that address water scarcity challenges, develop the necessary infrastructure, and improve water resources management, contributing to achieving water security and sustainable economic development in the Middle East and North Africa.
The forum emphasized finding solutions to the challenge of providing water at affordable prices to enhance quality of life and focused on the maintenance aspect to ensure sustainability for water projects.
