Sudan News Agency Warns Against Fake Media Platform

Khartoum: The Sudan News Agency (SUNA) has issued a clarification warning the public about a fraudulent media platform named “Sudan News and Events Agency,” which falsely claims to represent official Sudanese media institutions. This fake platform has no connection with the state’s legitimate media channels.

According to Sudan News Agency, this deceptive platform operates from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and spreads false information under the guise of being a Sudanese government media outlet. The investigations have identified Amjad Taha, also known as “Al-Ahwazi,” as the individual overseeing this operation. Taha, who holds British citizenship and is originally from Iran, is known for creating media platforms on social media and contributes to the newspaper “Israel Today.”

SUNA emphasizes that it is the only official news agency in Sudan, tasked with gathering and distributing news pertinent to the country. It plays a critical role in ensuring accurate and reliable information dissemination as it remai
ns a founding member of the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA) and the Union of News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) (UNA). SUNA also maintains cooperation and news exchange agreements with various international and regional news agencies.
