Sudan and Japan Engage in Talks to Boost Economic and Investment Ties

Khartoum: Sudan's Ambassador to Japan Al-Rayah Haidoub met with Kenji Yamada, Japanese State Minister at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), to discuss enhancing economic, investment, and technical cooperation between the two nations.

According to Sudan News Agency, Ambassador Haidoub provided Yamada with updates on Sudan's internal developments, highlighting military progress in North Kordofan and Darfur. He also outlined the Sudanese government's roadmap aimed at national dialogue, transition to civilian rule, and achieving political stability. Haidoub emphasized Sudan's interest in having Japan lift its travel restrictions on the country to pave the way for the resumption of development projects.

The ambassador urged greater Japanese participation in Sudan's reconstruction efforts, inviting Japanese companies to invest in Sudan and assuring them of facilitated entry into the Sudanese market. Discussions also touched upon regional issues, including escalating tensions in the Red Sea, and explored a preliminary study on establishing technical and vocational training schools in agriculture, industry, and construction sectors.

Yamada, reaffirming Japan's commitment, stated that METI and the Japanese Foreign Ministry would coordinate efforts for capacity-building programs for Sudanese professionals. He assured continued support for development projects, contingent on the restoration of stability in Sudan.
