Khartoum: State Minister at the Ministry of Finance Mohamed Nour Abdel Dayem chaired a preparatory meeting on Thursday with the National Islamic Endowments Chamber. This meeting was held in anticipation of discussions with officials from the Islamic Development Bank, which are scheduled to occur on the sidelines of the bank's annual meetings. The primary focus of the talks will be to address the challenges confronting projects funded by the bank. According to Sudan News Agency, the meeting assessed the current status of projects financed by the Awqaf Properties Investment Fund (APIF), which operates under the Islamic Development Bank (IDB). The fund has provided a total of $30 million to support various endowment projects utilizing the lease financing formula. Projects under review include the Parliament Tower, Daawa Authority Tower, Al-Azhari Complex, and Al-Majzoub Center. Additionally, the meeting addressed existing financing gaps and explored proposed solutions necessary for the completion and operation of these projects. Discussions also included the re-signing of financing agreements following the transfer of the projects to the Endowments Chamber. The overarching goal of the meeting was to consolidate the technical and financial positions before negotiations with the IDB delegation. This preparation is crucial to securing solutions that safeguard endowment rights and facilitate the advancement of stalled projects.
